Its all about final effect on the consumer when it comes to advertising and the internet. Human beings have the ability to take in more and more information – yet at some point they are saturated. “That is all folks”. Its not about control of another person it s about efficiency , effectiveness and in essence getting them to buy or sign up for your product or service. Anything else is foolish lip service.
Yet how often do we forget this rule of final effect and effectiveness . It may be about the whiz bang technology that we are so impressed with. After all Moore’s Law states how computer hardware and processing abilities march inexorably onwards and upwards. Yet in the end consider the poor person subjected to a complex message. Yet end in the end remember simply to focus on one thing and one message point , that is it.

A year of so ago a prominent – forward thinking and innovative ( at least in his mind) businessman was complaining bitterly – “And another thing these people running businesses out of their houses and homes are not paying business taxes”
Well it may be true that city , provincial state and federal governments are not far behind in figuring out how to work the taxes , this will take some time due to the bureaucratic structure and system. We may well living in a “golden age” or perhaps not. Add to this the benefit in terms of costs of being able to use residential as opposed to business phone and internet rates.
Here is a most amazing discovery by the financial magazine Forbes. If Forbes is only just realizing how the landscape has changed – then government and government agencies must be somewhat further back.
Sales tax collection compliance among eBay sellers is “alarmingly low,” says a new academic study published as states look for ammunition to bolster tax-collection laws.
When Georgia State University Economics Professor James Alm and Mikhail I. Melnik, an assistant professor of economics at Niagara University, downloaded and analyzed data on all consumer electronics sold on eBay during a 24-hour-period in July 2007, they found that only 18% of sellers bothered to collect sales tax even on sales to buyers within their own states. Under current federal law, an online seller has to collect sales taxes on purchases by buyers in his home state, but not on those by buyers from other states in which he has no physical presence, or “nexus.” States generally exempt residents who aren’t in business and make only “occasional” sales–say at a garage sale–from this requirement.
Not surprisingly, the new study, which appears in the National Tax Journal, found compliance rises dramatically with the size of the merchant. But Melnik said in an interview that he was surprised to find that even among eBay sellers with 10,000 to 15,000 ratings–meaning they have had that many unique customers and hardly qualify as “occasional” sellers–only half bothered to collect sales taxes on in-state sales. “They appear to be real businesses who have decided deliberately not to comply with state sales tax,” Melnik said. “That’s a violation of law.” (EBay gives all sellers the option of having sales taxes included when the final purchase price is calculated, allowing the researchers to determine whether the taxes were being charged although not whether the taxes collected were actually remitted to the states.)
Melnik said it seems likely some merchants who aren’t collecting in-state sales taxes aren’t complying with income tax laws either. Someone who is buying and selling items as a business (even a side business) on eBay would normally report it on a Schedule C attached to his 1040. This provides better tax treatment than is afforded hobbyists selling on eBay, who legally must report their sales, but can only deduct their expenses as miscellaneous itemized deductions. (For more on tax reporting of side businesses and hobbies, click here.)
But nonreporting of eBay sales is apparently widespread. For example, in April, a U.S. Tax Court judge ruled an Internal Revenue Service revenue officer was liable for back taxes from thousands of eBay clothing sales that she hadn’t reported on her tax forms.
Beginning in 2012 (for transactions taking place in 2011 and later) credit card companies and third-party transaction handlers such as eBay and Amazon.com must report to the IRS annually the gross sales of any U.S. seller doing more than 200 transactions and $20,000 in sales per year. Congress passed this requirement in 2008 to help pay for the first-time-home-buyer tax credit.
Meanwhile, the states have been using new laws, enforcement tactics and pressure on Congress to attempt to capture more sales taxes from online sales. New York, North Carolina and Rhode Island have passed novel laws that attempt to force big online out-of-state retailers such as Amazon and Overstock.com to collect their sales taxes based on the location of the companies’ affiliate sellers. Those laws are being challenged in court, as is a new Colorado “big brother” law that requires certain out-of-state merchants to either collect the tax or advise customers of their (widely ignored) obligation to pay it over to their state if the merchant doesn’t collect it. With state and local sales taxes nationwide now averaging a record 8.6%, billions of dollars in revenue a year are at stake nationwide.

The internally generated Gmail – Google mail – ads is that they present an example of Google using it’s own technology in reverse. Reverse engineering by not only the masters – but those who know the internal rules of how the systems work and do not work. As well more advanced strategies , tools and even testing by the Google masters may be in play. How do they know and how do they not know ?
Are there thresholds ? New mail ? Old mail ? Emails opened more often. Types of emails saved or opened more often?
What of recipients – how often , how often does the person sending the emails change ? How many emails sent , or to whom , how often each ? The questions go on and on no doubt about it.
Yet one must always remember in the analysis – that it is Google and their team involved with Gmail who are setting the stage and following rules
They know . Yet SEO people for the most part are making only intelligent , or hopefully intelligent, educated guesses and then following up on their hunches. Yet change a variable and the results may not be the direct end result of the change in variable. Often results are serendipity masquerading as real direct a to b causal end results.

Still more notice , puzzle and admiration of the targeted Adword type ads that Gmail runs in its shadows ( almost silently and unnoticed by most Gmail users. After all Google / Gmail will proudly advise its users - why delete when Gmail gives you “unlimited space” – that is until a Gmail user finds innovative means to employ this “surplus” or “extra” space that is of course 100 % theirs to use for something more innovative – such as storing programs online ( that was worked in the warnings as a forbidden exercise . Programs that a user tries to store in Gmail as an archive are deemed a non storeable virus) or perhaps the user tries to use one of the innovative programs that will use Gmail space as a FTP. Yet overall one might say why bother when server space is just so cheap and inexpensive anyways. Still there is always the challenge of it all , and of course the hardly promoted MSN product to use if need be .
What is interesting about the right pane Gmail ads is their targeting in relation to emails sent or received. There seems to be triggers and filters. Send or receive an email about autos and guess what auto ads , send or receive an email about computers – computer theme ads , one on jobs and resumes —-
Yet send one dealing with sex or sexualy related matters and guess what . No ads. Go figure .

Yet how does Google and Gmail determine how to choose select and delivery these targeted ads to its Gmail account holders and users?
Its all advanced SEO to a great degree in practice. Try it , notice the ads in your Gmail account right ( default settings) panel. Gmail first of all in its system scans email of users for key words and content. This was a rather a shock to the internet community when first revealed. Yet it is much more sophisticated advanced than that in process and nature.
The Google Gmail system detects which emails and their associated key words and themes are used most often , which sets are saved to the greatest degree – both in time on the system , times used , which ones are seriously archived and which ones are deleted.
The Gmail system automatically deletes “trash” and email deleted to the trash – so to a good degree those words , phrases and their ratios are enhanced and magnified for the system in the choices and choices of targeted ads and timing of delivery.
Secondly another factor in the calculations of the awarding system seems to be mail composed and “sent”. Sending and composing mail is an active , rather than passive , choice and series of choices by the Gmail client and potential consumer.
Its all in the algorithm and changing nature of the algorithms so to speak.
What is important to note for the practitioner of Search Engine Optimization SEO tactics and procedures is the nature of the tools used , their employ and levels of sophistication
If these tools are not being used in SERP Search Engine chosen Results in keyword searches and phrase resulting delivery and ranking they soon will be . Be forewarned.
All in all it can be said in life , and Google’s awarding of limitless amounts of email storage space on Gmail that there is “No such thing as a free lunch”. “Nothing is for nothing”.

On with a discussion of Google & Gmails apparent largess when it comes to more than generous allocations and rules concerning email storage space in its Gmail email product.
Google itself is employing sophisticated SEO Search Engine Optimization techniques in practices in the choice and delivery of targeted Adwords ads to its registered Gmail users via their stored email. On top of that the system utilized by Google in this practice is anything but rudimentary. Indeed this is of great use and demonstrates to the participants and practitioners of SEO , to some degree and to the least the extent of Google’s tools and level of powers and sophistication. Be forewarned.
The adwords type ads which appear some of the time on the right hand panel of the Gmail email windows change from time to time , and are anything but generic ads plastered in sequence.
First of all these ads may not even be noticed. Like background music in a movie they tend to blend in. Yet when a word or phrase is specifically targeted to a Gmail account user or users – their interest or subconscious mind may be peaked to action. Alternatively it is no secret in the advertising business and in the psychology of the effect of ads that some of the time its not a direct message but continued and continual repetition again and again – that influences customers and consumers in buying choices and apparent brand loyalties and brand loyalty choice and cultivation.

How To Choose An SEO Provider As the demand for search engine marketing continues to grow, so does the demand for experts in the area. In recent months, mass emails seem to be the new 'promise'...
For those of us with gmail email accounts. One finds that Having a gmail account is almost essential today – if one wants the raft of Google services to assess – whether its moderated Google news alerts , Google Analystics, Google Webmaster tools etc etc etc.
Yet Google is more than liberal and generous when it comes to space allocated to Gmail. True they have set the standard – forced other email providers to up the ante. Gmail came onto the scene when hotmail offered a measly 4 mb of email space and Yahoo 6mb.
Gmail offered initially a gig and now not only that its unlimited – limited of course by one broadband upload capabilities.
Yet Google was smart and thorough in their allocation. Try saving a program in gmail as storeage and you will be restricted and denied in the process – wheras Yahoo seems to allow this facility.
Yet why is Google so forthcoming. Indeed though one can say that server space ” is cheap”, Google goes out its way to remind users not to be afraid , indeed to use more and more email storage space. Indeed go to delete an email and you will be issued a friendly reminder by king Google – as to why not store the email as you have unlimited email storage capabilities. Yet its not like a bartender offering a workman a free drink at their establishment come pay day – or indeed several free drinks .
Most Interesting indeed. Why the largess on the part of Google & Gmail.
Choice Beyond Thinking Choice seems so readily obvious. People claim to make choices, and then complain about the consequences of those choices. We make choices every day if only minor ones, but do...

An interesting question in this day and age. Where do you hunt for run away kids or kids on the street ?
It used to be that you asked their friends , or their school friends. Or with die hard cases “On the street”
It used to be that neighborhood or school friends were key. Then kids retreated into the world of tv or movies .
Now their friends are on the internet , and even better in social networking sites. At the worst the need may be simply to communicate with local friends. If the kid has no money or cell phone available check out means of internet and free internet – say the local internet cafes. Secondly check out places where free internet is afforded and available
First that comes to mind are libraries. Second employment and job posting sites. Also try bus depots and the like
The run away may be simply posting and reading emails. They may be a known commodity around a site – cadging unused internet time.

Advocates of smaller government received some rare good news this week concerning government regulation of the Internet. Where your government is concerned, however, there is no shortage of alternate paths to the same regulated, restricted and controlled future. Almost before the news had broken, statist supporters of government Internet control were already scheming to circumvent a legal ruling that has erected the smallest of roadblocks in their collective path.
Tuesday, the Federal Appeals Court in Washington, D.C., ruled that, as written by CNET’s Declan McCullagh, the “Federal Communications Commission does not have the legal authority to slap Net neutrality regulations on Internet providers.” McCullagh went on to point out that “Tuesday’s decision could doom one of the signature initiatives of FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, a Democrat. Last October, Genachowski announced plans to begin drafting a formal set of net neutrality rules – even though Congress has not given the agency permission to do so. … Net neutrality proponents responded … by saying the FCC should slap landline-style regulations on Internet providers, which could involve price regulation, service quality controls, and technological mandates.”
Price regulation. Service controls. Mandates. Do these terms disturb you? Do they disturb you further because they come on the heels of an autocratic federal agency being told it does not have the authority to control what it is attempting to control? Reporters covering the “net neutrality” ruling have blithely speculated as to whether the government might reclassify broadband Internet services as telecommunications services, giving the FCC the authority to enact price controls. This would be the first step in destroying the free market Internet Service Providers (ISPs) serve.
Price controls destroy the normal, natural, practical exchange of value for value among consumers and providers, invariably inviting further government intervention. This is socialism. This is collectivism. Barack Hussein Obama’s supporters hate it when the president’s critics point this out, but this is why his administration is bad for our country, for our economy and for our liberties.
In February, I wrote here in Technocracy of Obama’s totalitarian plans for the Net. I also recapped past coverage of the “net neutrality” issue and how Barack Hussein Obama’s administration has advocated this policy. On paper, it sounds worthwhile; most of us want a “free and open Internet” to continue:
We covered the dangers of “net neutrality” in October after first, perhaps optimistically, suggesting that an Internet controlled by the United States and its commitment to individual rights would prevent the establishment of thoughtcrime. It has become clear that a government empowered to enforce its vision of net neutrality will only do harm, interfering in commerce while opening the door to the institution of the very thoughtcrime the concept of “net neutrality” is intended, idealistically, to prevent. Should we be surprised, then, that Barack Hussein Obama is an ardent supporter of this most recent evolution of a once high-minded principle?
Obama has said, “I’m a big believer in net neutrality,” and he wants to empower the unelected, unaccountable autocrats at the FCC to force you and your Internet Service Provider to toe his totalitarian line. Even if they lose the court battle over whether Obama can impose new government rules on the Internet, they intend to do it anyway. The overlords at the Federal Communications Commission are even now plotting and scheming to find a way around the law and our court system, inflicting their controls on us regardless of what we want, what our judges say or what the Constitution might contain.
(Column continues below)
The problem, then, is that the “free and open Internet” as mandated and regulated by Barack Hussein Obama’s regime would be anything but. As is so often the case where Obama’s policies are concerned, the conflict quickly becomes one of Marxist, collectivist, communitarian sensibilities versus traditional American free-market principles. Obama’s idea of “net neutrality,” meaning his FCC autocrats’ idea of “net neutrality,” is not about government protecting individual rights to free expression and access to information. No, it is about divorcing service providers from ownership of their privately possessed equipment, mandating that they stop managing their own networks as they deem best. This forces them to own and run their property to their detriment, which is only too common a theme among socialist government-control schemes.
An editorial in the Christian Science Monitor yesterday put the argument over “net neutrality” into perspective. “That companies providing a Web service would hurt their customers with less content is a big and unproven assumption,” the editorial board wrote. “Some 95 percent of Americans have access to at least four wireless carriers that offer broadband, in addition to … cable, satellite, and phone line carriers still offering broadband access. That’s quite a range of choices … if companies don’t fear more government rules coming down that might discourage investments in this ever-changing industry.”
Technological industries grow, develop and evolve amazingly quickly. Centralized government-control schemes suffer from a single, overarching problem that will and does kill this innovation and evolution wherever such controls are applied. That is that government-control schemes cannot respond quickly enough to the market. They cannot compare to the “spontaneous order” of millions of consumers making independent, free choices in a marketplace unencumbered by debilitating government restrictions.
Obama’s FCC wants to protect you from yourself and from the onerous freedom of choice. Obama’s appointed staff of Marxist czars wants to stop ISPs from managing their own property on the assumption that the equipment owned by these service providers belongs to everyone. This is collectivism. This is Marxism. This is your government grinding your civil liberties underfoot in the name of freedom. This is your president urging that you be controlled in the name of setting you free. This is those in power further deepening that power in the name of protecting the powerless.
This is countless lesser tyrannies, and this is wrong.

It may seem obvious to many who observe consumers especially the young who are enamored by their cell phones , or what used to be called simply “cell phones’ yet are becoming ever increasingly advanced communication devices. With these advancements come opportunities for more and advanced ad and product targeted deliveries on these platforms.
While it is true that many of the hardware offerings are becoming ever more sophisticated in nature , most of the products are being served up on run of the mill mass market products – be its relatively simple , even mundane Nokia or Motorola branded phone ISP mass market handsets. Most of these now offer “browsing “ capabilities that users are attracted to more and more.
There may be very advanced products such as iPhones and Blackberries yet what most browse the internet on ( and are served targeted ads and promotions) , are the subsidized phones that most receive. On top of that it can be well counted on , that as new products enter the market in the standard lease , new phone service contract renewals , the replacement handsets will have more and more advanced , and hopefully automatic , if not most easy to use , mobile internet services afforded.
True “open phones” are on the way , such as the Google Symbian , yet consumers deal with phone companies ( in this case cellular divisions of phone companies) , not Google or other providers of cell phone technology and technologies for their products. For the upcoming future this is most likely to remain the same.
What do consumers browse at the moment , on the internet on their cell phones or portable communication devices. At this point hands down its news and information. This may be simple news , or specific in-formations as such as maps , restaurant or movie reviews etc for those on the move. The percentage increase on this market area is 100 % growth 2009 to 2008. Interestingly running next in line for internet marketers , and search engine optimization stalwarts is that accessing blogging and social network sites , while running second in line , at approx 1/2 of category number one of news / information is now approx 1/2 of the news category while growing at a rate of over 400 %. If this category continues its growth effects this could be a major area – and highly target-able market and marketing segment and segments.
